South Korean Consul General Moon and Consul Park visited with our caucus leadership this week, sharing how the economies of South Korea and Washington state are tied through economic trade. Most fascinating was learning how important our hop industry is to them. The taste for beer is growing in South Korea, but the country doesn’t have the hop crops to support domestic production. So the South Korean government imports hops from Washington to improve the quality and taste of their beer products. We often hear how other countries import our wines so it was also nice to hear that our hop crop receives worldwide recognition.
